“It knew what it wanted, but it also knew it didn’t need it.”
— Shel Silverstein, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O
In the story, a wedge rolls around looking for the piece that will make it whole. When it finally fits, it can no longer sing, it rolls too fast to smell the flowers, and the fit doesn’t last.
In the sequel, the piece stops waiting to be completed. It flexes, grows its own edges, and slowly becomes a circle of its own. Then — as an equal, not a fill-in — it rolls off beside the Big O.
circle is built on that ending. Not two halves clutching to be one. Two whole circles, rolling alongside each other, singing.
Presence
Attending to the person in front of you — not scanning past them for someone better. No endless deck to swipe.
Mentalizing
Holding another person’s mind in your mind. Real curiosity about what it’s like to be them.
Wholeness
You are not a hole to be filled. You come as a circle, seeking a fellow circle.
Everyone comes out a winner — even the meetings that don’t become a couple leave both people freer to roll on with their lives.
